Hoot Hop (“the App”) is published by Hiva Tech Studio (“we”, “us”). This policy describes exactly what the App sends off your device, what it keeps on your device, and what it never touches at all.
The short version. There is no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location. The only thing the App sends to our servers is a score, an anonymous identifier, and a “someone is playing” ping. Ads are served by Google AdMob, and for players who tell us they are under 13 those ads are non-personalised.
The App requests only two Android permissions: internet access, and vibration for touch feedback.
Three things, and nothing else:
| What | When | Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Your score | At the end of a run | The score, an anonymous identifier, and a fixed display label (“Player” or “Guest”) — never a name you chose |
| An activity ping | When the App opens | The same anonymous identifier, so we can count how many people are playing |
| A settings check | When the App opens | Nothing about you. The App asks our server whether an update or maintenance notice should be shown |
The identifier is not your Google account and not your advertising ID. It is an identifier Android provides to the App (ANDROID_ID), which is specific to this app on this device; where Android does not supply a usable value, the App generates a random one instead. It is stored on your device and sent only with the score and ping described above. It carries no name, email, or contact detail, and we do not combine it with anything that would identify you personally. It is, however, a persistent identifier: it does not necessarily change if you reinstall the App.
Scores appear on a leaderboard that anyone using the App can see. Because no name is submitted, entries are shown against a generic label rather than anything that identifies you. We may remove a score, or block an identifier from submitting further scores, where we believe a score was falsified.
Your progress lives in ordinary app storage on your phone and is not uploaded: total stars, best score and recent runs, which owl is equipped, the sound setting, daily streak and mission progress, badges, the trail of your best run, and your answer to the age question below. Uninstalling the App deletes all of it.
The first time you open the App it asks, once, what year you were born. That answer is not sent anywhere. Only the result — whether the player is under 13 — is kept on the device, and it is used for exactly one purpose: how ads are requested.
Ads are shown by Google AdMob. Google’s own handling of ad requests is covered by the Google privacy & terms. The App shows a banner on the home and end-of-run screens and one optional “watch a video to keep hopping” reward video that you choose to start. There are no full-screen ads that interrupt play.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it. Because the App collects no names or contact details, in practice the only data tied to a device is the anonymous identifier and score described above.
Scores and activity pings are kept on our backend for as long as the leaderboard and player counts are useful to us, and are deleted on request. Our servers and database are operated through third-party cloud providers and data may be processed outside your country.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the App’s store listing.
